Test Engineer needed

A vacancy is available for a qualified Test Engineer with a Bachelor of Science and is highly skilled to join a company based in Somerset West, Western cape

REQUIREMENTS

· Minimum
BSc / BEng in Electronics/Mechatronics/Mechanicalor relevant NQF 6 equivalent
qualification, preferably MSC Eng.

· Experience in Management, Instrumentation and sensors, Mechanical Designs and Statistics, 5 years minimum.

· Knowledgeable of data analysis and relevant software.

· Knowledgeable to Explosives practices, regulations and rules.

· Knowledge of ISO 9001/2000 and ISO 14001 and other related international standards.

· Good problem solving and client relationship skills

· Good interpersonal, facilitation and conflict management skills

· Good communication, planning and organizing skills

· Computer literacy (MS Office packages, statistical packages)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

· Capture accurate and relevant data for the evaluation of product performance.

· Maintain and upgrade test equipment to ensure the timely availability of quality ballistic data.

· Develop special ballistic test equipment and sensors to enable the measuring of more/different/new parameters relevant to product performance.

· Develop special/specific/unique test jigs for the testing of munitions and ammunition
components without the dangers & costs of live weapon firings.

· Analyze ballistic data to ensure the integrity of the data and to evaluate the performance of the product and the possible influences of the measuring/test
parameters on the data.

· Support the development of new products (being part of the development team) to guarantee the correct testing and evaluation of new products.

· Support product tests and product demonstrations on outside/abroad test ranges with regards to ballistic measurements and test execution to ensure the best possible
promotion of our products.

· Identify product deficiencies in performance, conduct investigations as to isolate the core problem(s) and recommend/proof possible solutions.

· Generate Works Programs, Operating Procedures, and Special Safety Rules for all the test activities to guarantee compliance with the Explosives Regulations and the OHS Act.

· Direct the training of test personnel to be fully conversant with the safety procedures, the operation of the test equipment, the required performance specifications of the products and the limitations of the test sensors and test set-ups.
